Sachin Trapped In A Political Game?

Shiv Sena executive president, Uddhav Thackeray, said cryptically that "Congress and Sachin know well what is going on between them."

Sachin’s cricket circle isn’t too sure about his political innings either. Harsha Bhogle said "I don't think it is the greatest idea," as reported NDTV.  He further added "He does not have the experience of governing or doing social work."

Former Mumbai and India team-mate Sanjay Manjrekar said "Frankly, I am at a loss for words."  "I never realized these sorts of things interested him.” He added that “He is not one to express his views publicly and this would be a real test for him. I hope he can make a difference in parliament."

Many other Indian cricketers like Navjyot Singh Sidhu, Chetan Chauhan, Kirti Azad, Manoj Prabhakar, Mohammad Azharuddin and Vinod Kambli have tried their hand at politics in the past. But the question here would be if Sachin will treat his appointment to the Rajya Sabha as pleasant diversion or use it as a stepping stone towards a more active political life.
