Revival of Ganga: Government's Ambitious Plan to Beautify The Holy River

As part of Modi's mission to clean up the Ganges, four ministries would work hand in hand to cleanse the polluted holy river and make it a hub of spiritual tourism. Announcing this at a press conference, recently, after a meeting of the ministries, Minister of Water Resource, Uma Bharti said a meeting comprising four ministers from Surface Transport, Shipping, Tourism and Water Resources was convened for the purpose.

Bharti said, "We will be incorporating ideas as and when required. Ganga is on our top priority. It is not that we are not prioritizing other rivers but we will have to create a model first which can be replicated elsewhere," reports PTI. She also said that the Centre and the Prime Minister were giving tremendous importance for Ganga and other rivers as had been assured during his election campaign.

President Pranab Mukherjee while addressing the joint session of both houses of parliament said, "My government will take all steps to ensure perennial, clean, pristine Ganga," reports IANS. The Ganga is a symbol of faith of Indians, added the President.

With the present pace at which the Central government is working towards the revival of the Ganga, this indeed sends a green signal to all the fellow citizens who are eagerly waiting to see this holy river in its pristine form again.
