NSA Spying On India, BJP Targeted!

“If what you say is correct, it is totally unacceptable that privacy of Indian individuals or organizations is transgressed upon,” said MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, reports Indian Express. This is a very sensitive issue and the government is not willing to act upon unclear information and have assured that the facts will be crosschecked before making it a huge issue.

Other world leaders such as Germany’s Angela Merkel, who have been personally spied upon has come out of this uncomfortable situation. How will the Modi government react to this issue is the question and one that will be looked out for.

NSA is understood to have not been spying on top organizations and countries but it has the authorization to do so. This only questions the sovereignty of democratic or even non democratic governments and also their privacy laws.

Top officials in the Modi government have shown displeasure about this new revelation. Whereas on the other side, the U.S government is working towards cooling off the issue so that the meet between the two leaders take place smoothly.

In order to move forward with the issue the Modi government will not wait for the Premier’s visit to America. The Indian External Minister, Sushma Swaraj, is already in talks with her U.S. counterpart to this matter as quickly as possible.

This issue of spying has not only caused concern to the Indian government but the world over, where the feeling is that there is no individual privacy. NSA acquires information from major IT firms in the U.S., like Facebook, Google, Twitter and Microsoft.  The American administration has expressed that it will not stop spying on governments or organizations.

The BJP government feels that this act by America trespasses and also interrupts peace and democratic process within the country. The two governments will have to find a way to look at understanding each others stand on the issue for a strong and peaceful bilateral relationship.
