2. Haiti:

Haiti, a Caribbean country has witnessed slavery system since the era when Christopher Columbus established a fort on the island during his arrival in 1492. Till date, this evil system is practiced in Haiti. As many as half a million children are unpaid domestic servants known as restaveks, who are at severe risk for physical and sexual abuse. Additionally, human trafficking, including child trafficking is a significant problem in Haiti. Trafficked people are brought to, from, and through Haiti for forced labor including sex trafficking and high levels of child marriage. As per the index, In a country with a population of just 10.2 million, an estimated 200,000 – 220,000 people are enslaved in modern slavery.

3. Pakistan:

Pakistan, a South Asian country is the sixth most populous country with a population exceeding 180 million people. Out of the total population, some 2.1 million Pakistanis are thought to be enslaved, especially children and bonded laborers. According to the Asian Development Bank estimates, 1.8 million are in bonded labour. Many Pakistanis migrate to Gulf, Iran, Turkey, South Africa and elsewhere in search of work and it is where they fall prey to deceitful labour agents who withhold the passports and don’t pay wages.
