3. Shipwrecked Heidsieck

The story of Heidsieck will make you say that ‘Old is Gold’. The wine collection of Heidsieck was made in 1907, and was a part of a shipment to the Russian Imperial family in 1916, but was lost in a shipwreck. Hence the name of Heidsieck changed to Shipwrecked Heidsieck. Later in 1997, these bottles that is nearly 3000 in number, were discovered by a ship driver and each bottle was sold at a price of $2,75,000. This wine is now served to the Russian elites and wealthy guest at the Ritz-Carlton hotel, Moscow.

Michael Ganne, Christie's wine expert said it was “without doubt one of the greatest Bordeaux of all time, not only for its rare quality but its longevity, in that it can still be kept for another 50 years without any problem”, as quoted by Telegraph.co.uk.
