Microsoft Windows 8 'Gamble' Will Not Pay Off with Enterprises: Gartner

The reason that enterprises cannot move to Windows 8 directly is that it is not possible to test and deploy the new operating system before April 2014 and there are numerous challenges that need to be met before they can adopt Windows 8 whole heartedly.

Gartner analysts have predicted that Windows 8 will not be a hit in any case given the immense challenges that stand in its way. Due to these challenges the analysts have predicted that Windows 8 will not receive the kind of acceptance that Windows 7 did and it is expected to get only a user base of 20-25 percent in the corporate houses. They also said that its fate can be similar to Vista’s that failed to impress the population on a larger scale.

Windows 7 currently enjoys the first spot having 43 percent market share with XP standing second with an impressive 42.5 percent.

Microsoft has urged the enterprises with similar recommendations in the past asking them to move on from XP to use Windows 7. Now with Windows 8’s launch less than a few month away enterprises will have to take quick decisions.
