Microsoft SoftCards
Launched: 1980

SoftCards were introduced as a plug-in to the Apple II Personal computer that enabled Apple to run the Digital Research CP/M operating system. It had a Zilog Z80 CPU and 74LS00 series TTL chips that helped Apple to overcome the problem it was facing with its MOS Technology 6502. SoftCards became an instant success in the market and remained the top selling hardware product until Microsoft introduced its line of mouse two years later.

Microsoft RAMCard for Apple:
Launched: 1980

RAMCards were introduced in the market as an accessory card with the Zilog Z80 SoftCards. When plugged into Apple II’s free slot, it provided with an additional system memory of 16 KB for CP/M programs running on the SoftCard.
