Microsoft scored big by purchasing 1.6 percent stake in social networking giant, Facebook for $240 million in 2007. The investment is said to be a huge success, as the stake now is said to be worth much more. Also the deal paved a success path between Facebook and Microsoft’s Outlook email service and Bing search engine.

The Deal: $6.3 billion
One of the worst investment stories from Microsoft, the investment deal for aQuantive is still considered to be the biggest flops in tech history. Microsoft paid $6.3 billion in cash for online ad company, aQuantive in 2007. Later on, Microsoft realized and agreed that the deal wasn’t worth a single penny and had to virtually scrap off the whole agreement in 2012.
