Unlike all other CIOs who scale up the ladder or try their hands at different roles, Roger Zakharia broke the redundency and set a new trend. Instead of moving up the IT chain to pursue a CIO role somewhere, Zakharia, went into business for himself.
He previously worked as second in command to the CIO. "The possibility of an eventual CIO role wasn't enough for me," he says. "I wanted to run businesses." He is now a successful businessman who runs four startups Gocar San Diego Tours; online business feedback service ScoreOurBiz.com; IT consulting firm World Technology Solutions; and Pacific Rent-A-Car.
