Leadership Lessons for CIOs from Margaret Thatcher

"I love argument. I love debate. I don't expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me - that's not their job."

The first and the most important path in being a successful CIO is to have a cool and calm mind set. CIOs who are argument lovers often are praised to be the most successful ones in the company. What made Thatcher so successful in her political career was her patience to hear to all the arguments within the ministry. Thatcher loved debates. She had all the time for arguments and questions in her life. According to Thatcher, people aren’t meant to sit there and agree with their seniors. This is what a CIO must learn. They must find time to go through the questions from their team. It’s recommended to conduct open conversations or brainstorming, once in a week.

It’s also highly recommended that CIOs take decisions primarily based upon these ideas. But beware before you make quick decisions. You don’t want to make a wrong decision that may tumble the overall productivity of your team.
