Innovators: Yahoo Firing, Facebook Hiring

A report on the New York Times, in fact, stated that few of the high-profile prospective employees have been personally wooed by Mark Zuckerberg with him delivering the pitch on a walk through the woods.

"Zuckerberg said money wasn’t an object and that if I wanted the job — and why wouldn’t I, he questioned — the paperwork was already ready to go back at the office. The entire experience was totally surreal. I really felt like I was on a date," one potential employee (who asked not to be named) reportedly said. "He pointed out Apple’s headquarters, then Hewlett-Packard and a number of other big tech companies," the individual told the New York Times. “Then he pointed to Facebook and said that it would eventually be bigger than all of the companies he had just mentioned, and that if I joined the company, I could be a part of it all."

One really does wonder why Yahoo is so bent on making this move that will seemingly cut down on expenditure when even Zuckerberg (who incidentally has his hands full with Facebook’s upcoming IPO) is taking time out to try and recruit the people Yahoo wants to fire.
