Indian Air Force Celebrates 80 Years of Excellence



More on the display details by DFI “The commencement of the Air Force Day Parade will be marked by fly past of 'Ensign' formation.’Chakra' formation comprising three Mi-25/35 in Vic formation would follow. This will be followed by 'Hercules' formation, followed by 'Spectrum' formation in 'Echelon' position. The fighter fly-past (will be led by three Jaguar aircraft in Vic formation. This will be followed by a Su-30 MKI aircraft carrying out low level aerobatic display as grand finale to the ceremony.”

This year the IAF officials confirmed that in the air display the aerobatic team will not take part due to the last year’s crash during practice session which damaged the aircraft badly. However recently acquired aircrafts, along with fighters will present fly-past, as reported the Indian Express.

The IAF has participated in three wars with Pakistan, China and the Kargil clash since Independence. Other major operation embarked by IAF includes Operation Vijay-the invasion of Goa, Operation Cactus and Operation Meghdoot.

The IAF has taken an active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions. The Indian Air Force with the Indian Armed Forces provides aid in disaster relief. It has provided relief in two occasions, during the Gujarat cyclone in 1998 and in 2004 during the Tsunami.

The Indian Air force day is a day for all of us to celebrate to cheer the force and the aviators who are at service for the country.
