India Among World's 10 Most Dangerous Countries For Journalists
9. Colombia:
In Colombia, most of the journalists who laid down their lives while on duty have mostly been broadcast reporters working in radio, television, or commentators working in print. The main reasons behind most of the killings are corruption that emerges out of politics, crime, and human rights violation. Half of the suspected perpetrators turn out to be paramilitary and government officials, of which 98 percent operate with either total impunity or partially applied criminal justice.
8. Egypt:
With increased political instability and street violence in Egypt, safety for journalists has considerably been deteriorated, resulting in six journalist deaths in 2013. In just a day, three journalists were killed while covering raids on demonstrating Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood supporters by the Egyptian security forces. There was a sharp increase in the number of journalist deaths in 2013 as compared to the previous year with just one dead reported.
