How the Sangma Scion Fits Articulately into North-East Politics

 The Sangmas are the most predominant political family in the North-east, after the split from the Nationalist Congress Party they merged with the NPP when NCP refused to support P A Sangma in his proposal to become President of India.

Meghalaya being a state where politics is majorly personality driven and tribes often vote collectively, political turbulence is a common affair of the state. In the last five years the state has been governed by four different coalition governments. With many ticket seekers being denied party tickets the number of Independents has spiked in the state.

In the Garo Hills the P A Sangma factor is an important factor in state politics however the family is competing under a new symbol which is a new challenge.

Conrad, who studied at New Delhi's St Columbus School and the Wharton Business School in Philadelphia, said, “No doubt, it is a tough and a very important election for us. We've prepared very hard,” as reported by rediff.
