Homegrown Shopping Startups Outrun Facebook And Twitter In Popularity

With the emergence of hot online startups like Flipkart, Yepme, Yebhi, Dominos, Bookmyshow and Jabong and with the ‘wallet’ feature that most portals have inculcated, the trust factor has predominantly increased. Apart from the wallet feature, various types of deliveries and discreet packing, etc have increased the confidence of people on startup ventures.

Another interesting fact that was revealed in this survey was that amongst the total number of respondents globally who have admitted to shopping online and having used coupons to get discounts, almost 70 percent of them were women, which is the case for India as well. Interestingly there has also been another revelation that most shoppers fall in the age bracket of 20 to  35 and that women shoppers dominate the online shopping sector which is similar to the international scenario.

“Out of the total respondents, 77 percent of the respondents have admitted to using websites such as Cuponation.in to avail coupons for online shopping. Except for a few deviations the majority of the shoppers are in between the age group of 20-35 years,” says the report.

With the world leaders in online shopping – ‘Amazon’ hitting the Indian shores, it is quite clear that online shopping will go to the next level. On a closer comparison with much advanced markets like USA, Cannada or Germany it is evident that the online shopping scenario is still strong and a great deal can be expected by the startup eco-system in the coming days.
