2. Watch Out Intel!

In 1972, digital watches were in fashion and were considered high tech. At that time they were selling for hundreds of dollars. So, Intel acquired digital watch maker Microma and entered into the jewellery market. However, in 1978 when due to stiff competition the prices went down to $10, Intel sold Microma and applied its expertise in other areas.Gordon Moore still wears his Microma watch, to remind hiself of not entering into the consumer market.

3. Moore’s Law

Gordon Moore who has mentored late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs, said that the number of transistors affordably placed on a microchip will double every two years. This is well known as the Moore’s Law. 10 years later he changed it to ‘every other year’. But many believe that this law will cease to exist in 2014, well supported by Moore himself who thinks that the end of the trend is near.
