He strategized the complete functioning of diary business so as to ensure that no other foreign company dominates the market which would have a direct impact on the local farmers.

Kurien played a key role in creating and developing Amul as a brand thereby thoroughly empowering Indian farmers through co-operative societies. He grew to popularity as he inspired people to lose control and develop themselves. With the development of farmers which he wished he also developed his company to a great extent giving it gross revenue of 11,668 crore with milk collection of 3.8 billion liters in 2011-2012.
