Entrepreneurial Lessons from the Missile Man of India - Dr. Kalam

3. Be Confident to Take Risks

“To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.”

Kalam believes that an entrepreneur must be always ready to travel on unexplored paths. He should break away from his comfort zone as there is no substitute to hard work. To find success, an entrepreneur has to try out new things and take some amount of risk.

2. Learn How to Manage Failure

“Man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success.”

From his own experience in ISRO, Kalam learnt that when a failure happens in business, the leader of the organization should humbly own it and acknowledge it. But when success comes, he should give the credit to his team. This according to him is the best management lesson.

1. Defeat the Problem and Succeed

“If you’re on a new mission or a complex task, you should also expect to experience equally challenging problems. You should not allow the problem to become your captain. You should become the captain of the problem, defeat the problem and succeed.”

Kalam suggests every entrepreneur that till they break even and start making profit, they must have a willpower which is stronger than diamond.
