Court Cases in India That Enraged the Whole Country
2G Spectrum Case
The 2G scam got a worldwide attention when the protectors of law themselves broke all the laws and showed a high level of corruption to India. It happened when the government officials and some politicians illegally distributed Frequency Allocation Licences to mobile phone companies. The main use of these licenses was to provide 2G consent for mobile phones. Though the government claimed that the licenses were based on ‘first come first serve basis’ without any loss, yet CBI filed a charged sheet against the government in April, 2011 as these fraud deals brought a loss of 309845.5 million. The Supreme Court presented their judgment on 2nd February, 2012. The Supreme Court declared that the allotment of licenses of spectrum was purely arbitrary and against the Indian Constitution. A.Raja, the minister of communication and IT was the prime accused in this scandal.
