Satyam Scam

India has been witnessing several scams from a long time but in the corporate world, a scam as wicked as the Satyam Scam is one of its kinds. When Satyam’s fraud story was unveiled, every Indian shareholder and investor experienced a massive shock. The leading IT Company, Satyam Computer Services crushed every shareholder’s belief. In January 2009, Satyam’s Chairman Ramalinga Raju confessed that he had been false-operating accounts and cheated with the investors by faking Satyam’s accounts by $1.47 Billion. Later, Tech Mahindra merged with Satyam, reviving its broken reputation successfully and it into ‘Mahindra Satyam’.

Lal Bihari Identity Case

This case highlights the corruption level of the government officials in India. Lal Bihari was a dead man according to government records. The young farmer learnt about his death when he had visited a bank to ask for a loan. Furious and helpless Lal Bihari tried everything possible to get back his identity. He went to the court, added word ‘mritak’ (dead) to his name, abducted his cousin who illegally snatched his property, demanded for widow’s pension to his wife and gathered nearly all the people who were deceased according to government officials. 18 years after being declared dead, Lal Bihari not only won back his original identity, but also his piece of land with consistent efforts.
