CAUTION: 4 Things To Remember While Choosing Your VC

#1 Expertise

Choosing a VC is similar to a marriage; as it’s a long-term commitment. First and foremost, make sure whether the VC is a right fit for you. Research well on whether the VC has funded companies in the domain they are operating as well as enquire on what companies they have invested in and what has been their level of involvement in each of those investments. Take adequate time and know their potential conflicts.

#2 Add value

Preferably look for investors who can add value to your business or venture rather than only providing funds. Long lasting relationships between entrepreneurs and VCs take place only when the latter contributes to the growth of the former and when it isn’t transactional. Entrepreneurs have to make sure that VCs will be a part of the solution, when things get tough in their venture.
