The 1996 World Cup Quarter Final
Aamir Sohail’s bat pointing gesture is seen as the match highlight in the India Pakistan quarter final match of the 1996 World Cup held in Bangalore. Sohail was on a good swing hitting four square boundary on the balls bowled by Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad. Prasad has it stored for Aamir, who was dismissed from the field after the ball stumped the wicket and called him out. Prasad took a total of five wickets in the game. Ajay Jadeja added to the triumph of India’s win by 39 runs by scoring 45 runs out of 25 balls, in which he made the first 40 runs in the final two overs.

India and Pakistan has created a great level of interest for the game among the people from these countries. With the new series beginning the zest for the game has spread in the nation as expected. Most importantly the reunion of India and Pakistan in bilateral series also called as the ‘Friendship’ series is a positive tread for the countries making amends.
