Andy Rubin Steps Down; IITian Becomes Google's New Android Chief

Andy Rubin joined Google when the search giant acquired his company, Android Inc in 2005. From then on, he has been a helping hand and key person behind the success of OS.

Though the reasons for step down of Rubin are still not clear, there are chances that Google may want to integrate Chrome OS and Android in the near future, so that the company can use a single operating system for computers and mobile devices.

Pichai, who graduated in B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, joined Google in 2004. Besides, he holds degrees from Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He’s also credited with the development of some of the company’s most successful cloud-based apps, such as Calendar and Gmail as well as steered Google Drive.
