Rath Yatra, the Spiritual Journey Celebrated Across Country

 Amidst the scorching heat, many devotees, gathered to offer prayers on the streets not only in Puri but across the country and even across the globe. To bear the heat, the volunteer sprayed water on them. During this annual event the earlier practice of offering prayers to the deities by climbing up the chariots were ended and people had to pray from far.

While the deities move on their journey with lakhs of devotees, tight security comprising around 7,000 police personnel was deployed. CCTV and spy cameras overlooked the city for preventing any untoward incident. Personnel of Anti Terrorist Squad, Rapid Action Force and sharp shooters were deployed at vital points while the Coast Guard kept a vigil on the sea.

Apart from the grand celebration in the main town Puri, the whole of India too celebrates the journey with various Rath Yatras being taken out across the Indian cities. Also, Indian communities across the world too celebrated the annual day. Countries like Bangladesh, Nepal also saw the festival being celebrated with the same traditions and faith.
