Jan To May : Rs 1315 Crore Injected Into 64 New Indian Startups

The Numbers Growing

In comparison to funding in first half of 2011 which saw 68 venture capital deals and the latter half witnessing 78 deals, no such visible impact of regulatory or other concerns on venture capital activity was seen according to Mayank Rastogi, a partner at consulting firm Ernst & Young.

"The startup sector in India now is at a more exciting state than in the US or China, with more low-risk but potentially high-return opportunities," said Sarath Naru, managing partner of VenturEast to Economic Times.

In fiscal 2012, about 2400 startups building technology products together would have clocked revenues up to 2,000 crore estimates The National Association of Software and Services Companies.
