Apple surpassed Microsoft's profit first time in 20 years
Bangalore: Apple and Microsoft have announced their financial results and the results prove that Apple earns more than Microsoft. There are also reports that Apple has surpassed Microsoft's profits for the first time in 20 years. Apple's profit for the quarter ended on March 31, 2011 was $5.99 billion whereas Microsoft's profit was $5.23 billion. Microsoft made most of its profit from Windows operating system office suite. But Microsoft could make more profit if they had launched the Windows Phone 7 OS much earlier. Apple's most of the profits came through the success of its iPod, the iPad tablets and also the iPhone. Microsoft's fans need not be disappointed as the company did really well in Kinnect and the XBox 360 and dominated the gaming console. But Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 came to the market lately when the iPhone and Android had already made an impression in the market. However, most of its partners like Dell, HP, Acer and others have chosen to manufacture tablets that do not use Microsoft software. Microsoft is looking to update its Windows 7 operating system with features more tailored to tablets, so in future it may affect on its profit.
