8 Infamous Sexist Remarks Made by Indian Politicians

“Stay Indoor To Prevent Rape” By Botsa Satyanarayan:

India may find it very hard to get another leader like Mahatma Gandhi again but chauvinist, misogynist politicians are available throughout the country. Such leaders only blame and target women for the misfortune they face in this country. Botsa Satyanarayan, Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief, and Minister for Transport in the government of Andhra Pradesh, was one such leader who blamed women for the adversity they faced. This was evident after the Delhi gang rape case where he exclaimed, “Just because India achieved freedom at midnight does not mean that women can venture out after dark. They should ensure that they do not board buses with few passengers. The woman should have thought twice before boarding the suspicious private bus that night. Though the incident was condemnable, she should also have behaved keeping in mind the situation. Although it (Delhi gang-rape) was a minor incident, Soniaji made it a point to meet the protesters when they called on her.”
