Intel is completely counting on a not yet released product, Microsoft's Windows 8 to fulfill its mobile dreams. But counting on something which had already invited mixed reviews before release will ot be good for the company. According to Rakesh of Sterne Agee, “There has to be a value proposition for people to shift, and Windows 8 has a new interface with its own learning curve, which most people don’t like.

So if Windows 8 falls, Intel will be lot more than just hurt.

It might be different with other companies, but for technology companies, “poor quarterly financial data is often a lagging indicator of strategic success,” said Horace Dediu, a mobile industry analyst to Mashable. But even though Intel won’t suffer the same fate of RIM in a quick pace, it would face it in the long run. The tablets will cannibalize PC sales more in the coming years; the servers may shift to low power, small processors, and Intel may finally face that once-in a lifetime fortune reversal.
