3.Bhimtal Lake
Bhimtal lake is located in the Bhimtal town of Uttarkhand. The Geologists say the lake was formed by a chain of faults. Lying at an altitude of over 4500 ft, the lake is surrounded by Kumaon hills.
Bhimtal is a good tourist place. The perennial lake supports a wide variety of aquatic birds and is a winter stop over for Trans Himalayan birds. The area around the lake also supports a wide variety of bird species like black eagle, wall creeper, tawny fish owl, bulbul and emerald dove. The lake is a peaceful place for leaving all your worries and spending a few peaceful days.
Bhimtal is about 23 kms from Nainital and can be reached from the same place. Nainital has an airport and the nearest railway station is at Kathgodam.
