Many a times companies list out key features which are inevitable elements of their business process and which has to be integrated in their ERP system. Though it is implemented, companies fail to do a follow up if the key features are been used to the fullest. Companies fail to identify some of the key features and once the ERP is implemented, they realize that some of the features are missing or some were actually not necessary. Considering that millions are spent on the implementation and later for the maintenance, it is very important that companies consult an expert and then make the list. Also once the key features is implemented, a periodic tracking of the features is important and reviewing the list to know which ones are used the most and why they are most helpful. John Hoebler, managing director, MorganFranklin Corp., a business consulting and technology solutions company. "This is shocking, considering the millions companies invest in [their ERP systems]. Without knowing features, companies miss opportunities to automate business processes, complete functions faster, and meet business objectives," he says. In addition, "upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance are more costly, and less likely to succeed."
