5 Dying Technologies in Smartphones

Trackpads for Navigation

Before the touchscreens came to existence, track pads are the way of navigation found in high end phones, especially in the phones from HTC and BlackBerry. Some had dedicated movement keys. But they were not at all easy to use and had low functionality compared to the new touch interfaces which allows you to have multipoint touches and features like pinch zoom. Even though some phones still offer these trackpads, they are soon to be vanished.

Symbian OS

Nokia was the monopoly in mobile space once upon a time. Its Symbian operating system which ran on almost all their phones ruled the space, till Google came up with its Android. Android along with iOS was able to get more than 70 percent of the market in a short time. Nokia stood with its Symbian and Windows OS, which was regarded as a reason for the fall of this Finnish giant.

Even though Nokia still has some models with a modified form of the Symbian like the Pure View and some phones in the E Series, they are not expected to last and its major hope is now in the Windows Phone OS.
