15 Shortest-Tenured CEOs Ever
8 Vivian Schiller
CEO tenure: 1 year, 2 months
Vivian Schiller started at National Public Radio in January 2009 and was there till march 2011. And she had a controversial exit from the company.
After the controversy created by correspondent Juan Williams ranting about Muslims on Fox News, which NPR called a hit to its credibility, Vivian Schiller was caught by conservative activists in a bizarre video sting where she spoke unfavorably about the Tea Party.
In a situation where NPR had to fight for government funding, it was not possible for the company to hold Schiller back and it forced her out of the post.
7 Leo Apotheker, Hewlett-Packard -- 1 year
CEO tenure: 1 year
Leo Apotheker came to Hewlett-Packard from SAP AG, where he served as CEO for only 10 months. He started at HP in September 2010.
His tenure at HP was tragical for the company as it had to face product launch failures (e.g. Touchpad), public relations disasters and earnings announcements failures.
He was replced by the former eBay CEO Meg Whitman.
