Gil Amelio came to Apple during a rough time for the company in February 1996 and served there till July 1997. He was a bright tech-savvy, and was ready to contribute for Apple to flourish again.
But things went wrong. Despite initial gains, Apple suffered a $700 million loss and eventually it had to downsize the company by firing 3,000 people. This was one of the largest losses a company had to face in the Silicon Valley history.
