Rajat Gupta,  the Indian American business man, so far made new for his ‘rags to riches’ story, and this year he made it on the news for getting convicted for insider trading charges. Gupta was convicted by a jury and sentenced to two years of jail for tipping his friend and business associate Raj Rajaratnam with Goldman’s boardroom secrets during the financial crisis. He also made news for filing an appeal seeking stay on his prison sentence and remain free on a $10 dollar bond.

Manmohan Singh
Manmohan Singh is the only Prime Minister to return to power after completing a full five year term since Jawaharlal Nehru. He was once considered the reformist who opened the gates of India’s economy to the world, but now he has been tagged as an ‘underachiever’ by the Time magazine that featured him on their cover. The Prime Minister has been on news for mostly political reasons. But he has been constantly criticized for his lack of drive to run the country. However he was the one to roll out FDI in aviation and retail and other economic policies which were not popularly accepted by many ministers.
