#8 Hon Hai Precision Industry
The Taiwanese multi-national electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Tucheng, New Taipei, Taiwan, Hon Hai Precision Industry, commonly trading as Foxconn, comes up with 20 percent revenue of GDP, ranking eight in the list.
Foxconn is the world's largest maker of electronic components and the largest exporter in China.
The company is primarily an original design manufacturer and its clients include major American, European and Japanese electronics and information technology companies. Company’s notable products include the iPad, iPhone, Kindle, PlayStation and Xbox 360.
Foxconn has been involved in several managerial controversies in China, where it is the largest private-sector employer. Recently in 2012, the tech-giant Apple hired the Fiar Labor Association to conduct an audit of working conditions at Foxconn.
#9 Nokia
Nokia Corporation is headquartered in Keilaniemi, Espoo, Finland and it makes revenue of 20 percent, ranking ninth in the list.
The principal products of the Finnish multi-national Communications and Information Technology Corporation are mobile phones and portable IT devices and it also gives certain Internet services such as apps, games, music, maps, media and messaging through its Ovi platform, and free-of-charge digital map information and navigation services through its wholly owned subsidiary Navteq.
The company has a joint venture with Siemens, the Nokia Siemens networks, which provides telecommunications network equipment and services.
With around 122,000 employees across 120 countries and sales in more than 150 countries, the company has annual revenues of around €38 billion. It is the world’s second largest mobile phone maker by unit sales (Samsung being the first), with a global market share of 22.5% in the first quarter.
The company is listed on the Helsinki, Frankfurt and New York stock exchanges. And according to the Fortune Global 500, Nokia is the world's 143rd-largest company measured by 2011 revenues.
