The Hungarian oil and gas public company, MOL Group ranks at the tenth position, earning revenue of 19 percent of GDP. MOL (derived from Magyar Olaj, which means "Hungarian Oil") is an integrated oil and gas group headquartered in Hungary and in addition the company is present in the European, the Middle East and the African region.

MOL is in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, with interests in exploration, production, refining, marketing and petrochemicals. The company is listed at the Budapest Stock Exchange. It employs 31,732 people (as of 2011) and has 1,635filling stations internationally. It is also considered as a market leader in Hungary and Slovakia.

The largest shareholder of MOL is the Hungarian State itself with a 24.6 percent shares. Moreover, it is the most important company in Hungary in economic terms. Till date, it is the second largest company in the Central and Eastern Europe. In 2006, the company had 2891.1 billion HUF of net revenue and it got raised to 5343.2 billion HUF in 2011.
