#7 Susan Crowford:

Susan P. Crowford is a professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She has served as President Barack Oboma’s Special Assistant for Science, Technology, and Innovative Policy. She’s also a columnist for Bloomberg View.

Her research focuses on telecommunications and information law.

Crawford is currently a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and co-directs Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society. Her first book, Captive Audience: Telecom Monopolies in the New Gilded Age will be released soon.

#6 Rebecca MacKinnon

Rebecca MacKinnon is a former CNN journalist, who held CNN bureaus in Beijing and in Tokyo; she left television to become a blogger and co-founder of Global Voices Online, a blog highlighting citizen journalists around the world to become a trusted voice in Internet activism. She is on the Board of Directors of the Global Network Initiative and the Committee to Protect Journalists, and she holds fellowship at New American Foundation as Bernard L. Schwartz.

MacKinnon's first book, Consent of the Networked: The Worldwide Struggle for Internet Freedom is in bookstores now.
