A professor of Computer Science at UCLA, and director of its multidisciplinary Center for Embedded Networked Sensing, Deborah Estrin is the sister to Judy Estrin, both showing technological excellence in their own areas of interest.
She was introduced to the WITI Hall of Fame in 2008. In the year 2003, Popular Science announced her one of their ‘Brilliant 10’. And in 2007 she got selected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was also elected a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineers, ACM and the IEEE.
She has bagged a number of awards, including National Academy Of Engineering Award (2009), Doctor Honoris Causa EPFL (2008), Anita Borg Institute Women of Vision Award for Innovation (2007) and National Science Foundation’s Presidential Young Investigator Award (1987).
