#4 1960 Ferrari 250 GT California LWB Competizione Spyder

Another Ferrari in the list, 1960 Ferrari 250 Competizione Spyder, was sold by Gooding and Company for $11.275 million in Monterey. It is one of the most desirable Ferraris and sports cars in the world, and it had an all-alloy body and a long wheelbase.

On the mechanical side, it has outside plug motor, four-wheel disc brakes, velocity stacks, and a ribbed gearbox to help keep it cool. It has a 2,953 cc V-12 engine and it punches out 280 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 203 pound-feet torque at 5,500 rpm.

The Ferrari specialist, David Carte fully restored the model, which already had a body that was draped in a medium shade of red.

This 1960 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Competizione Spyder was offered at the Pebble Beach Auction held in August 2012.

#3 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Spezial Roadster

Mercedes-Benz to play again, this 1936 Mercedes-Benz Spezial Roadster, the third most expensive car in the auction history, also astonished the car lovers as it was sold by Gooding and Company for $11.77 million at the 2012 Monterey auction.

David Gooding, the auction company founder, called this car species as the “most exciting pre-war Mercedes-Benz.” It was originally built for the royal Prussian Family in 1936, in 1942, it was shipped to Switzerland to avoid the perils of World War II, after which it was taken to the United States. Then it was send back to Switzerland, where it sat in a garage for more than forty years.
