Russia shows a very high level of death by suicide in the world. One million suicides have been recorded in Russia from the dissolution of the Soviet Union till October 2011. Even in Russia suicides are linked to heavy consumption of alcohol. Russia also records the highest number of suicide of teenage boys. Other than alcoholism, bipolar disorders, depression, drug abuse or any other type of mental disorder can also cause suicide. The suicide rate in Russia is 30.1 per lakh inhabitants.

Suicide Rate: 31
Suicide has been a long term social issue in Sri Lanka. As per a report published in 2011 by Dr Neil Fernando, head of National Institute of Mental Health, every year almost 4,000 people commit suicide in Sri Lanka. The report showed that the majority of the suicide victims were aged 15 to 44 in Sri Lanka. The suicide rate in Sri Lanka is 31 per lakh inhabitants.
