The eastern European country, Belarus has reported high suicide rate over a decade now. There is evidence of alcohol playing a major role in the country’s high suicide rate. Alcohol is one of the major behaviorally modifiable factors that are responsible for suicidal behavior. As per the Bureau of Forensic Medicine autopsy reports, in 62 percent of suicide victims, alcohol was found in the blood resulting to BAC-positive suicides. The suicide rate in Belarus is 27.4 per 1 lakh inhabitants.
