Family Background
Brought up in a nuclear family, I am the only daughter of my parents. I have a younger brother who is studying engineering from a Govt College in Odisha. My father is into service and mother has always been a home-maker. While on one hand I am an extrovert person by nature, my brother is a bit shy.
Contribution to the field
My company is a three years old boutique firm into Communication Consultancy. It has a young dynamic team divided into corporate and sports communication management. The best thing about my company is the flat structure it follows. Here, nobody is a boss and nobody is a subordinate.
Suggestions:
You have to be thick-skinned and very keen towards learning. Its always good to have knowledge and read a lot for the same however, the attitude should be open to gallop others point of view also. Though a cliche, but, determination, dedication and discipline is something one should always have,
Extra Certification:
I am a post-graduate in Mass Communication from Asia's oldest and largest University, Banaras Hindu University. However, my three years of work experience has taught me its the smartness and keenness to do a job matters more than qualification. Having said that, I still believe in higher studies.
Doing differently:
I would be more smart in my persuasive and articulation skills. Diplomacy and political correctness, if had been inherent, I would have certainly excelled more. One learns while one grows and I am still learning. Nobody is a born perfect and so was not I. Looking back I feel I am more evolved now.
Career Decisions:
This traces me back to my school, when I took up Science in high school but then, I changed my stream to Humanities. Later, shifting to Communication Consultancy, which is my forte, was a good decision. Initially, I was a journalist with a national daily and that was certainly not my cup of tea.
Essential qualities:
There is no confined and definitive qualities that one need to have in order to lead. I feel it comes inherent with one's personality. Nevertheless, its good to be creative and innovation but reiterating your own point of view with conviction is also necessary to draw other's traction in a group.
Challenges faced:
Everyday a challenge comes in, be it with client or with the other stakeholders of my field. I always compartmentalize and filter out my thought into two part: significant and not significant. It helps to have a positive outlook of my future and thus, I regain my energy & channelize it rightly.
Current job Description:
Previously I was a trainee sub-editor with a national daily and my job to edit and designing the broadsheet of the news paper. I was a bit monotonous for an active person like me. In my present job, I do dynamic things like, writing articles, spinning media friendly stories, tackling tough clients.
Book/Websites to go through:
I stay away from books which are on motivation and preaching. Its good to read up fiction as it enriches your imagination power and leads to creativity. Having said that, its good to read up blogs and books by renowned authors to brush up language. I am also an avid reader of three newspapers a day.
Personal Description:
By nature, I am an extrovert person and by passion, I love music. While on one hand, I love spending time with friends but solitude is something I need to rejuvenate myself. Loneliness does not make me low. I like to take others takes on few things but end up doing what my heart says is right.
Accomplishments:
During student days, I have won many accolades and awards in singing on inter-school and university level. I bagged three byline in a national daily in a week's time of reporting as an intern and now as a consultant, many of my clients have renewed their contracts with my firm under my tenure.
Attributes of Leadership:
Leadership is a attitude which one has to learn how to carry it properly and not mix it with arrogance. My attitude of learning from others and determination to be an example among my peers and social circle have always been the strongest of all my qualities.
After few years:
5 years is a long time, but I would like to be a successful entrepreneur and dream to be on the cover page of Time Magazine one day :)
Vision:
I would love to make a pro-actively successful organization which would be a trendsetter in the industry and example for others to follow.
