Hard work pays

You will only hear about and see the glamorous side of success and of successful people. Don't forget though that there is a lot of hard work that goes behind the scenes that make success happen. For every success, you have to go through many gut wrenching failures.
Family Background
Family is from lower middle class rural background. Youngest of 3 sons in my family. Married with a 7 year old daughter.
Advice For New Professionals:
You will only hear about and see the glamorous side of success and of successful people. Don't forget though that there is a lot of hard work that goes behind the scenes that make success happen. For every success, you have to go through many gut wrenching failures.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
Of being a self made man (not withstanding familial support).
Growth Strategy:

Required Reading:
Books - Night of January 16th by Ayn Rand. The story is a murder trial, but without a prearranged verdict: the verdict is decided by a jury selected from the audience. By design the evidence presented is such that the decision must rest on the jurors’ fundamental attitude toward life.
Done Differently:
Wish list is long..but two things stand out.

a)Crack the code for team work much earlier
b)Take more risks than i have, and experience more failures
Plans For The Future:
In my next role as the leader of an SBU
The Decisions That Matter
a) Never stay in the comfort zone b) Speak only if you can add value; silence is golden otherwise c) Consciously help people you work with succeed;
Working Life Management:
Work & Life are two sides of the same coin. Compromises on either front will lead to stress. At work, i maintain sanity by being effective & efficient and by helping people be successful. At home, i genuinely try never to compromise on family time and activities. I prioritise LIFE over work.
Career Profile:
Am currently responsible for all Service Delivery in the Infrastructure space for Americas region. While current role is in the ITO space, previous role (Technology Director - EMEA, in charge of Enterprise Architecture & Strategy) was in the APPLICATIONS domain and totally different in profile.
The Journey So Far:
Started as a Network Engineer, moved to DOT COM/web/Java development, moved abroad and went through series of experiences in both permanent and consulting roles. Progress through the roles of Architect, Program Manager, Delivery Manager & Technology Director, before my current role as Vice President
