Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
Born to a Punjabi family in Mumbai and raised in the Maximum City. My father was a marketer and pursued music academically, hence our conversations were always peppered on brand management, poets and artists and our favorite films. In retrospect, these conversations really developed my outlook.
Job Profile:
Currently, I'm a Game Producer/Designer at YesGnome, LLC. My role is to think up new games and conceptualize/design the game, lead it through the production stage where it is release ready and then work on the branding/game analytics and marketing strategies to ensure it's fiscal success.
Career Profile:
The difference now is that I also have to "Show the money" and have to think about my products in terms of their revenue generation and ROI. Since my earlier games were off the shelf one time purchases, this is a new addition to my repertoire. Blending creativity with number crunching.
The Journey So Far:
I can't classify my journey as one in the corporate world. I just have an ongoing continuous journey called my life!
Required Reading:
Play lot of games and understand what goes into it. Master the Scrum/Agile process for project management and study a lot about communications and consumer psychology. Join the prominent gaming groups like GDC and NASSCOM in India to meet the right people who can guide you.
Working Life Management:
When I Work I Work and When I Party I Party. I don't party when I am working and don't work while I am partying. Keeping a clear demarcation has helped me so far!
Growth Strategy:
Constantly learning and then applying those learnings. As I evolve there will be more to know and more to do.
Other Thoughts:
Yes, please visit my game at http://yesgno.me/Undead-Frontier. Download it, play it and post me a review.
Done Differently:
I would have watched more movies, read more comics and played more games :D
Role Model:
I don't have role models per se but like certain individuals who have the attributes that I can develop in myself. I like Donald Trump's philosophy of "no one must know more about your business than you do".
The Decisions That Matter
I can't classify this as an important career decision, but I traveled a lot both in India and abroad that helped shaped my perspective and widened it!
Degrees That Matter:
Nothing beats having skills that can be deployed in real time. Degrees or no degrees one must possess them.
