Brief description
I am pleased to share my details. I am Neeraj Kumar Singh. I was born in a small town Bijnor of Uttar Pradesh in 1984. I completed my schooling from Saharanpur & joined Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur to pursue my further dream in the field of Mechanical Engineering. I completed my Dual Degree in B.Tech & M.Tech in the year of 2007.
After completion of my Engineering, I joined “Tata Motors” as Technical Manager in its Research & Development (R&D) division & was appreciated for my work. I am glad to share that I got an opportunity to work in a team to accomplish Mr.  Ratan Tata’s dream project. My 4 years’ stint with Tata motors was a happy & valuable learning time.
My next short stint was as a Product development Manager with Agricultural & Construction equipment manufacturing company “Escort Limited” for about one year.
Currently I am pursuing one year Post Graduate Programme for Executives (2012-13) from IIM-Shillong. In addition to the tough study routine at IIM-Shillong, I am contributing my time as Placement Coordinator for the batch.

Challenge in job
My career in Research & Development has been quite interesting, challenging & full of learning. It has always been associated with something new, innovative & different which can be appreciated by people across the globe which in turn may improve life of people. The challenge has been to continuously improve safety measurement, making it affordable, comfortable & imbibing latest technology.
Working in R&D division with large parameters & objective, with company’s best brains & ensuring the success of the project has taught me many things in life & has strengthened my understanding of overall technical know how of a project.

Job made easy
Automobile industry has always been the preferred choice industry where I enjoy my work. My equation with my seniors, their support & guidance has always been good. Working with a large employee base also helps to develop a social circle & learn many aspects of life.
Upcoming Trends
I personally think there are many factors which count towards the success trend. With time, young generation’s choice of vehicles, focus on affordable & small cars, energy saving efficient vehicle technology & alternative fuels like compressed cars etc. will take precedence over others.  Expected change in strict Emission norms will introduce new technology. Comfort & safety will also gain major attention.
My point of view
Yes, it is great to be recognized by the world that our country has got best of the talents & best of the brains. At the same time I am not agreed to the statement that we have not made any progress. Design & success of Tata Nano has proved its worth to the world, which is unique in its kind & world has appreciated it.
Our country is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Many leading automobile companies are present here. This is helping to retain our talents in our country itself. Now Private Companies & Public Sector Units (PSUs) have been offering excellent job opportunities to the college graduates & I think   further government initiative can improve to retain the talent in our country.
Having said this, I think talent-exodus is also good to an extent as they are able to gain international expertise & experience. World is recognizing our talent & treating us well.

My goals
My first objective is to successfully complete Executive MBA course & then join back the industry to further strengthen my knowledge base. After two years I would like to engage back myself intensively in publishing research papers & offer technical consulting services to automobile companies. In addition to this I am interested to impart my experience & knowledge with students of engineering Institutions across the country & I would like grow further in this space.
Family background
We have six members in our family. My father was senior auditor in Trade Tax & mother is house wife.  My younger brother Ravinder Singh has completed his MBBS & now pursuing internship at Institute of management science-BHU itself. My elder sister is Gynecologist at Delhi Hospital & younger sister is Vetenary doctor.
Advice to professionals
In my personal opinion some of the dos for newcomers are focus to gain sound knowledge of basic fundamentals, developing pragmatic understanding of overall product base including market, customer’s demand & then should concentrate on one domain of his choice so to emerge as a specialist . It will also be advisable to track global information on upcoming technologies and cultivate a research-oriented approach.
Advice to students
IIT-Kharagpur, being one of the renowned engineering institutes of our country, has a top-class faculty, state-of-art laboratories and associated resources. I would advise my friends to make the most of them. With its help, work hard & work differently so that world recognizes your efforts & society benefits with your work.
Be proud to be an Indian…
