Making job easier

My 5 years work experience in big MNCs (in Retail domain), the skills developed in IIM and my passion for Retail/e-commerce.

My important career decision

I would say the most important one was to do MBA from prestigious IIM. It provided me a holistic approach towards life and career.

Current Trends

E-commerce is still have some time to mature in India. There is a cut throat competition among players. Every player is trying to have better on-site experience for more consumer engagement, leading to increase in potential sale.Technology is playing a key role here. The way product assortment is arranged, the personalization offered to the consumers, re-target marketing based on web analytics, technology offering systems for order fulfillment are game changing. The players understand that technology is the key driver and is the only viable solution for all issues.That's why building scalable systems are key focus areas of every player.

Challenges faced in job

The startup work culture is very dynamic and keeping a pace in this competitive landscape is the most challenging task. The unstructured environment I work in provide me challenging assignments.I strongly believe that this is a very valuable experience in current business environment and will help me do more challenging assignments in future as well.

Being different

I am a B.Tech in IT from NIT Bhopal 2005. I spent 5 years building syetems for world's retail giants Walmart & Target.Though my current profile is not technical, yet supply chain process efficiency provides room for numerous technological solutions which an engineer can better envision.

My role model

My role model is my father. He is always a source of inspiration - the passion and dedication he has towards his profession of teaching even after 33 years is really incredible.

Managing professional as well as personal life

Simple! When I am out of my office boundary after office hours, its my personal life which is on priority. My lovely wife and family helps me achieve that :)

Views about 'Tech product Introduction is weak among Indians'

I don't believe its really true. The mindset that we are just service providers is changing. There are many start-ups in India right now, which are building small scale tech product and I strongly believe that the passion for entrepreneurship is something that will contribute to this in future.

Company and job profile

I started my corporate career with Tata Consultancy Services in 2005 post my graduation from NIT Bhopal.Then I moved on to IBM in 2007. In these years till 2010, I worked for mainly retail clients like Walmart & Target.

In 2010, I left my job to pursue my MBA from prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. The two years in IIM was incredible - full of fun and as well as hectic. I could met people from diverse background and I would say peer learning was the most valuable asset of IIM.

Post MBA, I am working as Manager-Operations for India's leading e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal.Here, I am working towards Supply Chain process efficiency in areas of Order Fulfillment and Vendor Relationship Management.

Family Background

I was born and brought up in a village in Assam. My father is a teacher(retired now) and my mother is a house-wife.I have two elder sisters, who are married and settled in Assam.
Last year, we have added a new member to our small family through my marriage :)
