Thoughts on Education system of our country
I think every school in every cultural context and language context perhaps needs to look at what is and isn't working for their students. Whilst we need a sense of uniformity and standards, we need innovative ways to include and inspire.
My strongest skill
Filmmaking, script writing, project management
Important lesson learned
Think on your feet, don't sit back and let failure consume you. There's an opportunity behind most doors, focus on that and not on the closed doors. Be open, always learn, love the process as much as the win. Going far means going far with yourself and pushing the boundaries for yourself. Start the new with you.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
Intuitive and clear communication skills, a balance between the need to be friendly and the need to be directive, a balance between hard work and personal health (food + fitness). It's all about resilience and perseverance, you gotta last the distance.
Brief description about me
I run Red Bangle, a boutique film production house based in Bangalore. We make ad films, corporate films, web films and animated films. We produce India's first award-winning online talk show, Chai with Lakshmi, which has over 2.8 million views.
I'm a social researcher, model and marketer turned film maker and anchor.
Initiative to develop a country
Start on the path that you are passionate about, be inclusive, bring about solutions that outlast you. Stay inspired and share the inspiration. Build businesses that are profitable and impactful. Balance growth with inclusion. Be sustainable.
Ensuring success
I read a lot, constantly meet new people and ask a lot of questions. Thankfully for me, my talk show and my anchoring work bring me face to face with a variety of new and interesting people, as does my filmmaking work. And some of these people are amazingly inspiring!
My family background
Middle class family. Dad's a lawyer, mum was in a bank. I have a sister who's doing her PhD at IIT. I'm the average middle class girl who decided to think a little for herself, broke moulds and is happy doing her own thing. Sometimes I think this 'own thing' was meant to be, at other times I think this was unexpected.
Influenced by
Change. I have always had big changes in life and I have embraced most of them. These changes have shaped me.
