The Journey : Early Days to How I Got Here
I started my career as a QA and have been in the Industry since 1995. In my seventeen years of experience I have worked with three different organizations at different roles. Currently I am working as the Vice-President of Corbus. My experience in both process excellence and testing has helped me to look at the projects both reactively and proactively.
Decisions that Mattered
I am not the one who believes in changing the organization very fast. In my total career span I have worked with three organizations and the movement was always for what I will learn new. I started my career as a QA with Chipsoft which was an IT Service provider. Working with the organization gave me experience in understanding the business and its integration. This was my first assignment as QA, building the system and getting it certified against the QMS standard. I also got an opportunity to build the CRM system that connects customer, Relationship Executive, Store, Inventory etc in the same organization. This opportunity took me to the world of software development where in I laid out business requirements, Low Level Design, Integration points and then performing the business acceptance testing. Further I implemented and executed full life cycle development project which excited me. While working, I came to know more and more about CMM and software Industry and my interest to know more about this discipline in detail, made me move to the Software Industry. In my career I got an opportunity to set up Independent Validation Services and provide the same within as well as outside the organization. My transformation from IT Service Provider to software industry was a major move of my career.
The Turning Points
I take my work seriously, I take the team with whom I am working seriously, and rest I take it easy.
Two Years Down the Line
I do more of strategy and consultative role. Since I have grown within the organization, the opportunities that I have got helped me to think and do things differently. Today I am responsible for Independent Validation Services and Process Excellence, involved in defining the strategy and executing it. I contribute to the growth of my function and I ensure my team grows along with me.

I will be in a higher role and on a broader platform wherein I can contribute more to the society

Lessons Learnt
We are successful only if our customer is successful. The quality of output is directly proportionate to the input.
Work and Role: Then and Now
I have moved from tactical to strategic role, contributing to the growth of my organization.
Trends to Watch Out For
Since I am connected to IT, there is a constant change / up gradation taking place which throws up new challenges and I like to work in such an environment leading to learning and acquiring knowledge in newer fields. Social Media, Mobility, Security, Privacy, Lean, Agile is all new and challenging. There is a lot of scope to learn and implement.
My Advice If You are Starting Out
Believe in what is being done adds value to one-self and to the organization.  Passion for work, working honestly and lastly being practical, going with the wind does not always mean the right direction.
Must Focus Areas
Security testing, Web Auditing, Enterprise Testing, going cloud way is what analyst says.
Books/ Websites I Recommend
To know the trends go to Fortune 50 company website and look at what do they offer, skills are to be developed based on what industry is offering.
Do we need Certifications?
The process of learning can never stop and acquiring certifications for the organization / self are a real test of one’s knowledge base. Currently various programs are being offered like HP QTP Certifications, Scrum Master Certification, Mobility related certifications  like SMS, learning open source tools.
