In 2002, just a teenager, Chris Phillips founded his own web hosting and e-commerce company, Dot5Hosting. Many felt that it won’t stand the tech bubble burst that at the time sent many online companies to oblivion. However Philips stuck to his web hosting site and in two years turned it into a success which placed him at number 13 on the list of the UK’s richest teens, just a few places behind Kiera Knightley and England soccer player Wayne Rooney. In 2004, at just 17 years old, Phillips had earned close to £2 million, all thanks to his own efforts.

It’s quite a familiar fact that, the trendy domain names cost a bomb. But back in 2003, aged only 15, Matt got wise on this fact. He was a whiz kid who knew computers from a young age, and managed to turn the need for a snappy domain name into cold, hard cash. He used to purchase names domain names, then optimize them and sell them on for big profits. He bought a domain for $120 with money borrowed from his father’s PayPal account, and promptly sold it for $500. In one interview he mentioned buying a domain for just $4,000 and selling it for a six figure sum. In 2007, at just 19 years old, he was already sitting on a cool $1 million.
