iPad-aholic: Confessions of 7 Tech CEOs
4. Nancy Lublin
CEO of DoSomething.org, a social-cause-oriented non-profit website.
Lublin thinks the iPad is more a bite-sized computer than anything much else. Her day usually consists of her tweeting for herself and for her company, and attending meetings. “The iPad is great for meetings”, she says, explaining “I give a lot of speeches, and all my speeches are on the iPad — I have templates for 8 different speeches, and I usually just customize them for each speech. Usually when I give a speech I get a rider asking what kind of lighting I want, whether I’d like a podium, etc — but with the iPad, I don’t need to worry about IT issues because everything I need is right there.”
But Lublin derives even more benefit from the iPad after work, using t to help at home. “It’s the greatest sedative for my children — it’s just much better than giving them a Benadryl! I don’t remember flying before the iPad — I’ve just blocked that whole experience out, all those years. I can read them There’s a Monster at the End of This Book and we can play education games, and then they fall asleep, and I can do work right there on the iPad, it’s great.”
